The squadron staff consists of several uniformed and non-uniformed adult volunteers who run the parade evenings and provide/support other activities at weekends or during school holidays. Nearly all of them have either served in the military or have been a cadet themselves, or in some cases both. On this page you will find a mini-bio of each member of our staff team.
Flt Lt Darren Pascoe RAFVR(T)
After joining our squadron in 2015, Flt Lt Pascoe took over as Commanding Officer (OC) in Sept 2016. Daz has a Royal Air Force background and served in the RAF Police for over 23 years, starting in 1986. He was also an Air Cadet, achieving the rank of Flight Sergeant in 77 (Redruth) Squadron, Cornwall.
In his spare time, Daz enjoys watching his favourite rugby team, Bath Rugby, walking his two labrador dogs and motor biking.
FS (ATC) Rob Ley
FS Ley is our longest serving uniformed member of staff, having joined the squadron in 2010. He is currently the squadron Adjutant and is also responsible for the overall dress, drill and discipline standards. Rob was a cadet in 1157 (Falmouth) Squadron in the early 2000's, achieving the rank of Flight Sergeant before leaving in 2005. Aside from his squadron roles, Rob is also the Wing Radio Communications Officer for Dorset & Wilts Wing, and Deputy Sector SNCO for our sector (comprised of 6 squadrons) - two additional roles which keep him very busy!
In his spare time, Rob gets involved in other aspects of radio communication (namely Amateur Radio and RAYNET), as well as indulging in other hobbies including photography, hill-walking and computer engineering.
Sgt (ATC) Chris Moore
Chris has a passion for cars and is (one of the best) mechanics in Swindon. He is still writing the rest of his bio...
Non-uniformed Staff (Civillian Instructors)
CI Matt Cordas
Having been part of the Squadron from 2007-2013 as a cadet, achieving the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer, then returning in 2016 as an adult volunteer, Matt is one of our newest members of staff. During his time as a cadet, he completed his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award and trekked in the Pyrenees (both alongside Sgt (ATC) Moore, above), and was actively involved with charity and community events. Matt is also our webmaster and leads a small team of cadets that keep the website up-to-date.
Outside of the Squadron Matt enjoys running and setting crazy personal challenges to raise money for charity.
CI Craig Gould
CI Gould is our longest serving member of staff. He was a member of the Army cadets at a younger age, and during his time as an adult volunteer Craig has fulfilled a number of different roles. Having previously been a uniformed member of staff holing the rank of FS (ATC), Craig has returned to life as a Civilian Instructor and is currently our squadron Training Officer. He is responsible for keeping the traning programme filled with activities and heads up all aspects of cadet training.
Craig can often been seen with his running shoes on, alongside members of his running club.
